Silly plastic cracking sound when I go over bumps and turn corners !!

A few people have talked about this on the forum.. I have made comments on it myself, but this sound is doing my head in.

I have the exact problem. It is so frustrating, it sounds like it is coming from the back of the car.

I think best address by process of elimination, so get someone in the back (strapped in of course) and try and reproduce, then using a combination of something like rubber door stops (to move trim away) or masking tape (to hold trim away), apply one at a time to see if any improvement.

I assume interior since spring/shock bump stops wouldn't be affected by turning, but bumps indicate up/down movement and corners indicate body flexing side to side.

When I've experienced anything like this I've got my children to try and identify it/ hold their hands or press on trim panels (not thankfully on my A6 though, they can usually feel it through their fingers.. That said the previous owner had applied small foam blocks between both the windscreen and dash and rear parcel shelf (?) on my saloon, I am guessing due to squeaking.

I am a big fella... I got the missus to drive around with me in the boot of the avant!!! I have pimped tinted 3/4 glass so no one could see me.... Then the missus decided to be a little carefree with the throttle!!! Fun times !!!!

@poosnip what car have you got or did you mention already? I have the same cracking noise over bumps. Mine is an Allroad. I've tracked it down to the pullout cover that clips into the slots in the rear pillar. The noise seems to come from the movement of this cover.

I have an avant like you motion....When my someone is sat in the back behind the driver the creaking is much reduced,...

I suspected this much.... Today I will take all of that stuff out and test

Same setup as mine then. Is the bench part of your rear seat out of place? If somebody sitting on it and the noise stops it might be the cause. I took out my whole rear seat and made sure it was secured but the cracking persisted.

I know the focus here is the plastic parts. But could it possibly be shocks/springs area. This noise concerns me from a cost aspect.
