Hi there again, I`ve had the engine tray off my `53 A6 2.5 diesel and there in a slight but noticeable show of oil from the large, what looks like intercooler pipe on the off side off the engine as you look upwards. There is a sensor in the pipe which could be the culprit. Is either of these prone to leaking or in the case of the pipe spliting? I wiped the oil off the areas so as to get a better idea of where the leak is from but as yet no signs, Any ideas please?

It's an intercooler pipe alright but it's not leaking as such, these engines all draw a bit of oil through the intake system and this is what you see weeping from these joints. Nothing to worry about really.

Not really much you can do, I've heard of people cleaning out the intercooler with petrol and leaving it to dry for a day or two before refitting but it only stops it for a while, I've had superbs, boras, passats and on an a6 now and they have all done it but never bad enough to do anything about.
