Anyone have a quick fix to the boot rattle ?

It's kind of a loud click or bang when going over a larger bump - like a snare drum.

I think it comes from the parcel shelf mounting or maybe the boot floor cover.

I'm about to plaster the lot in soft rubber inserts but pointers would be welcome first.

Mine does it .... Sounds like a plastic rattle. For me it occurs when I go over a bump, but it's more pronounced when the rear suspension is under load...say when i turn on an incline. I don't think it's a trim rattle .... Someone on here has said that it was the bump stops on rear suspension

Check the lock striker, it may have come loose.

a quick way to find out is to wrap tape on it.

    Will report back.

I had this noise. I will spare you the details of how the indy I use couldn't be ***** to find it and how I was ripped off by the main dealer who failed to solve it.
I took the rear wheels off and removed the wheel arch liner N/S. Poked around in there and pulled at the brake line that is visible. As I pulled at the pipe it made the noise!
I got under the car and pulled on the brake line and saw it was hitting the heat shield.
I unbolted one corner of the heat shield and reformed it to give more room for the brake pipe, refitted the heat shield.
Road tested the car car and the noise was gone.

@santiago - Sounds like you have had the same issues I've had with garages

Do you have pics of what you found so I can check ?

I'm sorry I didn't take pics (note to self, take picture when fixing things)
With the NS rear wheel off with the lining still in place you should see the a 3" section of brake pipe (centre bottom of the liner).
If it will help you I will take the wheel off tomorrow and take some pictures for you.

I'm away for a couple of days tomorrow so I'll check that when I get back on Saturday if the rattle is still there.

    Happy new year!

    Cheers
