    Hi guys,

I have, today, bought a 2008 A5 1.8T FSI. I have not yet picked it up but I have noticed something when I test drove the car; the Fillercap cover does not lock, meaning, even when the car is locked it can be opened freely. Is that normal or is something not right?

    Thanks in advance.

Not right. It should lock when the car is locked.

Is that a common fault and how easy can it be repaired?

No idea mate. Not heard of it not working before. Could be quite easy if it's just a fuse or something but could be a right PITA if it's some thing more.

Was it definitely pushed shut when you tried it?

Yes. But I forgot to make the dealer aware before we went away. The Airbag warning light is on as well (as well as service light, because of the airbag). This could apparently be due to the fact that people slam their seats right back. Could those 2 be connected in any way (he asked hoping lol).

Common fault, do a search on the forum as you'll find a few part numbers for repair.

That sounds like utter bull s&*t to me. I would walk away from that car and find another one!

Think about it, airbags trigger when an external collision is detected and certain parameters are reached that puts the occupants at risk of injury. The fact that the seats are pushed back too fast is utter rubbish.

The service light could be connected but it's more likely it needs a service. And the fuel cap isn't working I would walk away and stay away mate.

Just my opinion but that's what I'd do. Is it a main Audi dealer?

Nops, not the main dealer but a well established second hand car dealer and it comes with a years warranty. I have done some research on that and it appears to be a common fault as well. It will either be repaired before I pick it up or he books us in with an Audi main dealer FOC (its in the urchase contract). The car does not look like it was in a crash and the HPI check comes back clear. Only 55k miles and I will be the second owner. He only got the car in a couple of days ago and therefor did not have a chance fixing it. Will keep ya updated though

I have done a search before I posted this thread, I do not seem to be able to find it?

its definitely in the A4 B8 section and is very common. I believe it is a solenoid that fails.
