Picked up an a6 a couple of days ago. From everything I've read, it appears to have mmi 3G low.

Question is, can this software be updated? The screen res is rubbish, and have to live with that (compared with my newer a4 that has the HDD mmi).

However, can the upgrades be bought anywhere other than Audi (who want £200 just for the satnav upgrade disks). seen some on eBay but not sure to trust them. Also, I'd like to put the satnav disk on to an ad card - I assume that's possible, will it default to the card if I remove the disk?

    thanks

Software or hardware? Software as in map updates and firmware (if any available) yes but you're best going to audi for those as it has to be activated by them.

Hardware yes but it'll cost you £££ for Low - High upgrade.

There should be an option somewhere to copy the map data to a SD card within the MMI.

Software in this case. The bloke who I spoke to at Audi said they can only update the satnav maps (£200), and there was no way of updating the mmi overall. If I buy the disk, can I put them on sd card and then sell them in ebay? Or is that where the activation element comes in to stop this happening?! If so, why are so many being sold on eBay?

Both maps and firmware can be updated by yourself, but you need to do a little research if you want to do it for free, google gps underground as a starting point! I'm not posting any links as they will just be deleted.

Cheers mate. Doesn't have to be free, just want to do it right, without feeling I've had my pants pulled down :-)

I will research what the firmware upgrade gives me firstly...

Just read that mmi 3G low can't have the 3d mapping, so not really bothered any more! Can't see the point in doing any updates either as screen will always look pants! Although would be interested in sorting a few functions via VCDS after reading a few possibilities.
