2008 - A8 D3 3.0 TDI quattro sport (2007/8 MY08 facelift) - noisy drivers door lock

Hi there,

new owner and first time post. Just bought a 2008 MY08 facelifted 3.0TDI A8 about 3 weeks ago. I've covered about 1,000 miles so far and it's been amazing

However, as of yesterday my driver's door has developed a noise when it locks. This happens during the auto-lock after I take off, when I use the door based lock button and also when I use the key lock function. The door(s) unlocks as normal, but when you lock it, it makes an electronic buzzing noise for about 2 seconds, like it wasn't able to lock (but it has). When the car auto-locks, the noise will happen after take off and then 2-3 times after that, before it settles down. It then happens again if you take off after coming to a stop.

The noise sounds like it's coming from near the small LED flasher on the top of the internal cill of the door (i.e. where the door lock would normally be on a car door). It seems like a sensor is not picking up the fact that the door is locked and is trying again. There is no error message on the dash. Also, don't know if it makes any difference, but mine car has keyless access/start and also convenience locking on the door handle

Anyone have any experience with this type of problem? I tried searching, but no joy,

Further to this, the convenience button is now taking at least 2 presses to lock the car and leave the small red LED flashing as it should

A bit of a non-event, the problem seems to have solved itself and all is now well, for the time being, no noise and convience locks are behaving themselves!
