Is it possible to relace the side/driving/parking light bulb (the little one on the outside edge of the headlamp unit on my B6 Passat without removing the headlamp unit??

Seems access is somewhat restricted, right hand side of car BTW.

Hi. Yes it's pretty easy, done both of mine without any real issues. It's a bit tight but if you are careful and don't have hands like Geoff Capes then you'll be fine.

I know bulbs are cheap but you could take it to a dealer and as long as they supply the bulb they will do it for free. The trouble is that the bulb will not be cheap.

"We'll have to run a diagnostic on it for you, sir!". <later, much later> "There's a problem with your flange fudge widgit that controls your indicator fluid, sir! That's why you can't change your bulb. We'll have to take it in, I'm afraid. You can't drive it like that, sir. The Police will stop you. It's not safe to drive. How does three weeks on Tuesday suit you? The parts will be here by then. We can't issue a quotation for that, sir, <smirks into middle distance> dunno what else we'll find... "
