    Default 1998 Passat VR5 – 23-07-2006,11:09 AM
    Has anyone out there got any thoughts (good or bad) on the Passat VR5? I have the chance of getting one but don't know much about them. Not much discussion about them here either. Cheers, Al B

    I heard that the V5 engine isnt that fast and uses lots of fuel.

    what a load of rubbish.
    I have a V5 Golf and get between 25mpg round town and 35mpg on motorways average. The enginbe is smooth and torquey. Definately worth a test drive.

    The V5 Passat is very rare but offers better value than the 1.8t which was the same price. Take a look at www.golfv5.co.uk for more information about the engine.
