    Be kind I am new.
A6 2007 Avant with MMI basic (red monochrome) Dension gateway 500 fitted and has always worked fine; no satnav; Bose sound.

Out of the blue the sound stopped working. It was a cold night but nothing unusual had happened. Radio and cd player sound will cut out every few seconds - the cd player keeps spinning. The input from the Dension seems to be recycling about the same rate although the actual unit seems to work fine. I don't use the Audi Bluetooth module. I have read similar problems caused by water but the floor area and around the units in the tailgate are dry.

Since then I have noticed another oddity which I bet is connected - The graphic for the parking assist no longer displays (the system seems to work fine with just sound.) And I am unable to alter any settings. For example, if I try to switch the setting for the graphic on or off, It switches itself back off. if I try to alter the volume or pitch of the parking assist beeps it will allow the new setting input for a few moments then just put it back to where it was. no change.

I haven't tried all the setup adjustments possible. But the other prominent one is the bluetooth module setup doesn't appear at all any more. I don't really care but it should still be there, right?

Resetting the MMI unit doesn't fix it.

I hope all this is connected. i do not have VCDS.

Sound like the BT module has failed. You will need to either replace the module or get a MOST loop adapter to bypass the BT module. From memory I think the BT module is under the carpet of the passenger seat.

You can buy a MOST loop adapter from ebay.
