I have a 2011 A4 2.0 TDI Tehnic. Bought second hand at 12months old with 12000 miles on the clock. Up-to this year I was quite happy with the vehicle, however in May the car suffered a complete clutch failure. By then it had only covered 22000 miles. It was still under the manufacturers guarantee and the car was repaired by my local Audi garage at no cost to myself.
In November this year following a Winter Health Check by the Audi Garage oil leakage was discovered coming from the bell housing area. The gearbox was removed and the technician found that that the inner differential oil seal was leaking causing damage to the flywheel, clutch etc. At this stage my car had only done 24000 miles but was just out of warranty. Audi agreed to cover the cost of the parts £1500) but not the cost of the labour (£1000).
Are these faults common on this model? It would be interesting to know if other A4 owners have suffered similar faults.
As a footnote this is my 5th Audi car and will probably be my last.

Both my previous A4 B5 (sold on with 160,000 miles) and my current A4 B8 are incredibly oil-tight. I mean (not that the family would allow) I would Parker them in the front room over the rug without worrying about oil seepage. Having said that, your oil seal may have, just like a lightbulb, decided its time was up!

    Thanks for this Zenerdiode,
My car displayed no signs of oil leakage on my garage floor and when parked up, it was discovered by the technician at my local Audi garage when the car went in for a Winter Health Check. Prior to this there was no indication anything was amiss.
My previous AudI, an A4 1.9 TDI, bought new in 2005, I had it for 7 years. It had covered 55000 miles when I traded it in for my current car. This was a really good car, no problems with it whatsoever in fact I wish I had kept it.
Considering my car's recent major faults I am left wondering what the next problem will be. It has dented my confidence in the car and in Audi's build quality.

My old A4 covered 177k before I sold it on, completely oil tight and solid as a rock.
