    Hi all,

I'm new here, hope someone might be able to help. Car is a A6 C5 2005 1.9TDI avant final edition .

Got a problem with the indicators - indicating left works fine, but indicating right - nothing happens.

It's not the bulbs as they work fine (lamps and dashboard) with the hazards and the immobiliser.

I don't think it's the indicator stalk either, sd with the keys out and the indicator set to 'right', the rhs parking/side lights come on no problem.

A quick google seems to indicate it might be the hazard light switch that's faulty, but I wondered if anyone knew otherwise?

    Cheers!

yep, I would have said stalk, but the parking lights working indicate it should be ok, so hazard relay is next, it controls the indicators also

    best regards

Indicating to turn right is used more often than indicating to turn left

That means more wear on the switch contacts for that side

Put the indicator stalk to the right a few times in rapid sucession and you may clean the contacts

Failing that I think you may need a new switch

You could try squirting switch cleaner int the area of the switch it can work ( use Isoproponal )

    Hope this helps

bob, he says the parking lights work fine which will rule out the stalk, so it must be the hazard switch, as thats a common part to be replaced.
also, both sides of the indicators must be used an equal amount, or you would never get back to where you started from, would you ? think about it... haha

Hmmm so I got a replacement hazard relay, popped it in and... same problem!

Will try blasting some contact cleaner in the switch but as I said earlier, I don't think it's that as the park light still works when the keys aren't in the ignition.
Unless there are separate switch contacts for indicator and parking lights in the stalk switch?

Can anyone point me to a schematic/circuit diagram of the indicator stalk switching to see what it actually does?

Parking lights and indicator lights are on different contacts within the switch

There are two relays in the Hazard switch module, one for the turn signals and the other for Hazzard lights

Its a fact that RH turns are more frequent on RHD cars and left turns more frequent on LHD cars
