    Hi Guys
    I have an Audi A6 2006 2.0TDI 140 7 speed multi tronic(BRE Engine Code).
The gear selector some times finds it abit difficult to come out from P, but once it does its fine. Sometimes on startup it makes a noise as the engine ticks over, I had a mechanic who is specialist in Audi gearbox and said the flywheel is on its way out.

My question is, how long can i drive untill i actually need it to be replaced? The mechanic told me nothing will happen and you can carry on driving for sor some time as you wont even notice if the flywheel is gone. That didnt sound right to me lol. I dont get any judders or shaking of any sort.

Also I am trying to find the a flywheel & cluth kit for my car but cant seem to find it. I contacted a few guys on ebay and they said as its a 7 speed multi its only a dealer part. Is this right? or where else can i get it from?

    Thanks for your help!

Could be the shift release solenoid, put your hand on the gearstick and press the footbrake, can you feel anything moving when you do? Also do a search on here as I think someone got theirs replaced.

Don't always assume ebay is cheapest, in some cases it's not. Go into audis parts desk as you will get the added benefit of a 2 yr guarantee on parts should something go wrong. Might cost a bit more but you have that security behind it.

When was the fluid and filter last changed as its required every 38k.

    Hi chris

I tried today again and can hear a slight clicking noise from just under the gear lever everytime i press the brake pedal. What can this be? It does struggle sometimes to come out from P.
    Thanks

The click is normal, several threads on this already, stop worrying about that. You have, despite it being an auto box a dual mass flywheel which can in time start to fail. Get a second opinion on source of noise. You do not have a conventional clutch, rather a multi plate clutch pack buried deep in the guts of the box, specialist job but again, almost certainly not the source of your noise.
The stiffness coming out of park? Far as i know its normal to have some, it appers to be an additional safety feature, means you need to be consciously putting it in gear.
As i say, get a second or even third opinion.
