problem with fan blower cabin misting up

When driving yesterday the windows steamed up. heater usually v efficient didn't clear them. when a/c switched on gradually it cleared. Also when recirc button pressed far more air was present through vents. It seems like something is blocked or perhaps a flap not opening/closing correctly.
Have checked coolant level and have eliminated leaking heater matrix (thankfully,did this on my earlier golf ///not a nice job)
any pointers where to start?

Pollen filter is wet buddy, check for leaks around that area and remove the pollen filter for the moment or replace it.
