    I need to reset the the mileage counter on my 2002 golf, I need to know how far I have travelled for work purposes, only I can't seem to get it reset. Can any one help because the black twisty button doesnt seem to work.

    You have got to do it with the ignition on.

    With the ignition off, it will zero but as soon as you put the ign on it will return to the figure stored.

    Also, if it is knackered, couldn't you use the trip function on the MFD computer.

    Failing that.... AA Route planner !

    no, still not working, tried it when engine was on, and still no joy.

    How do i use the trip function?? this is my 1st car and I'm female!! cars isn't my strong point!

    Your not pressing the clock set button instead of the trip re-set are you ?

    on my mk4 gttdi its......... press an hold trip button {r/h side of dash},switch on ignition. release button.then press clock set button [L/h side of dash}
