    Hi,

Went for a trip this weekend. On Friday night the SATNAV was working on the way down and has worked (as in shown a map of the local area) all weekend.

This afternoon when getting ready to set off the message appeared

    "Please Check ... DVD"

The DVD was in the drive fine but wouldn't eject. The boot was quite full so I couldn't get a good look at the time. I tried resetting the MMI (the three finger salute) and the message changed to "Please insert .. DVD".

Now the boot is empty but it is dark. When I press the eject button I can hear a faint "wirr" but nothing emerges.

I have had the "check..." message before but taking the disk out, wiping it expertly on my coat and putting it back in usually restores normal operation. Scans have shown occasional errors too but usually they go away.

How do I get it to emerge just now, is there a free mechanism ?

PS - I tried a search and most results seem to relate to ex-fleet or lease vehicles where the DVD is locked.

    Cheers

Is it a copied dvd? Sometimes they can fry the laser.

Suppose you can try a forced eject via vcds, navigation, adaption, dvd eject.

If that fails, unplug the drive, plug it back in and try again. Failing that, remove the drive and open it up and see whats happening.

Its the original disk as far as I know.

I think the player is trying to eject the disk, as in it is accepting the command to do so, but the disk seems mis-aligned maybe.

Anyone taken one apart before ?

EDIT - Definitely the original, I did get a copy bundled with my MMI upgrade but it didn't work so I put the original back.

All PC drive units have a small pin hole in the front of them so that a paper clip can be used to manually eject the tray.
Check your unit for this hole.

    SOLVED! - Fastest fix ever.

The disk seems to have got stuck in being ejected. So I poked another DVD into the slot, the mechanism "grabbed" it and then stoppped before taking it in, and then went quiet.

    Pressed eject again and Bingo!

Cleaned the disk and put it back, I have a map...
