Hi guys, I've recently been away for 3 months however I have had my car ran up several times a week whilst away. I got back and noticed that my drivers footwell and seat behind foot well both saturated in water, I have looked around the Internet and not found anything to do with the B8 as the set up is different, if anyone has encountered this problem please please help

    many thanks

On my old B5 A4 the scuttle at the back of the engine bay used to fill up with water due to blocked drain holes. The water made its way into the foot wells through the pipe holes. A similar thing might happen on the B8?? I cleaned my B8 scuttle out this summer and it was blocked with leaves and muck.

Hi, I've taken all that apart and had a look down there and even though there where leaves and dirt there was no indication of a build up of water it was dry minus a little bit of rain, ive heard that behind the wheel arch is a common place for water to get in, ive pulled it back its wet there but I don't know if that is in unordinary, however there is a few holes there im guessing thats due to being a stock car ready for LH or RH drive however I am going to seal these up and keep people posted incase they get this problem,

on on a plus side I have had the heaters on full for a few hours and I am now dry, I hope it stays that way,

I had something similar in the winter when we had the very heavy rain. It seemed to me that it was wettest behind the driver's seat. When I looked at the seal at the bottom edge of the passenger window, there was a slight gap between the seal and the glass. I shoved it all down and towards the glass, and the problem hasn't recurred since.

Whether that's fixed it, I can't say for sure!

Thats right it's like the water is soaked up the carpet to drivers seat, when u say seal is that at the top of the window or at the bottom. Also does it show any sign that water is leaking in or is it concealed. Also is it the same car?

    many thanks luke

It's an A4 B8 2010. It was the right rear window in my case. The seal I'm talking about is a soft horizontal strip along the bottom of the window, and slides against the glass when it opens and closes. It didn't seem to be pushed right against the glass.

I suspected that the water was running down the glass and into the door, then onto the carpet.

No idea whether this was the case, but it hasn't happened since!

I'd be interested to see whether this or anything else helps.

Do you have a sunroof? If so drain holes could be blocked. Happens on my mates b8. He uses a bike gear cable to clear it now and again.
