Did you try turning the key the other way as you only mentioned you turned it to the lock direction.

    Hi Chris
use key turn left to open, flash once.
turn right to lock , nothing happens.
use remote to open, flash twice,
use remote to lock, flash once and a beep.
no matters what I do, all doors remain locked.
and yesterday mmi suddenly no sound playing radio & radio, tried reset and hold down volume, doesn't work
    are these related?

Depends on the state of the battery, if charging it in situ please do it using the points under the bonnet. With a normal charger it may fully charge if left overnight...if you have the ability to do so, so that both the electrics and your car will be safe.

If your 2005 has the original 9yr old battery in it best to get it replaced and keep the old one fully charged as a back-up.

For some reason many owners seem to think a car battery will last forever

I did predict a few battery fail posts as the weather got colder.

Battery is only 2 years old, vcds scan shows fault code 00532 and 02244 which is sticky button on control head , it caused mmi did not shut down and left over night drained battery flat.

There is of course the boot?

In truth my children whilst in car seats never sat in the front, as they'd invariably have something in their hands which made an airbag a dangerous thing. Even now older, if they want to play on a kindle/phone they're in the back.

if he's yours you really can't complain too much since they're technically a 'self inflicted injury'...and were not in the American forces and don't get a medal for shooting ourselves in the foot
