What do you mean by "refuse to connect". Can't really see a situation when you would want the iPhone to use the car's data connection when it has a superior one of its own. If you mean that that the car cannot use the phone's data connection then it never will because the iPhone does not support rSAP

Not really... depends on what kind of data subscription he has, if he only has 3g and so does the car then using the cars 3g subscription via the in car wifi hotspot will make use of the better antenna in the car.
Agreed if he has a 4g subscription then "in areas that have 4g coverage" the onboard data service from the 6 + should be faster than using the 3g data from the car (although that will change with the facelift models) BUT a poor quality 4g signal off the phone may still be slower than using a better quality 3g via the car antenna.

Do you have another device that successfully connects to the car's WLAN? Just wondering if it is a problem with the car rather than your phone? My daughter told me her iPhone wouldn't connect to my car's wifi, but it turned out she was entering the key incorrectly - she was using a lower case l (for lima) instead of an upper case I (for Indigo). Once we figured that out, she connected with no problem...

Hi the Three sim in the car is substantialy better than the ee card in my phone. In think ee are sending me a 4g sim to try but right now the sim in the car is excellent practically anywhere.

however even after reseting network etc on the phone it will not connect just the spinning busy thing that never turns to a tick. I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this.

The 6 has wifi issues generally, it's not car related. Update to latest firmware fixed mine.

This, coupled with Justinos' post would suggest it's the iphone at fault, not the car - if you've used phones previously without issue it'll be a case of getting the iphone to work with the car.

And trust me, I know how hard it is trying to get apple devices to work with cars that they simply don't want to work with.

I've got a 6 not 6 plus, but not had any problems since the day it came out (and i got it). Try connecting another device or changing the wifi password so you know you are inputting the correct characters, also try updating the software to the latest version, and finally you could reset the wifi settings and then try connecting again. (you will have to re-input all wifi passwords if you do this i.e. home router etc)
