Economy and emissions gains for facelifted Audi A6 | Autocar

basically A7 plus some additional engine changes/options. Wonder if Audi UK will decide to import the 1.8TFSi in light of the emerging push back on diesels

Excellent find John and I'm at least happy to say that its not enough of a facelift to make me want to swap.

Here is the official Audi AG Press release (in English) on the facelift

    Audi MediaServices - Audi A6

Need to wait for the UK one to see what it will mean for us and like the A7 they may wait until the order book is about to open (in October) to release details of the actual trim levels etc. The new A7 configurations may be a good indicator though

The bits that I found interesting with tech are:
The new A6 models are also way ahead of the competition when it comes to infotainment, with configurations ranging up to MMI navigation plus with MMI touch. The top-of-the-line navigation system with the power-retractable eight‑inch monitor is now based on a new technology platform that uses the fast Tegra 30 graphics chip from Audi’s partner Nvidia. The supplemental module Audi connect transfers data via the fast LTE standard and brings tailored online services into the car, including new media streaming apps.

So MMI Navigation Plus with MMI touch already existed (I've got it), but it's getting a new Nvidia graphics card. And the modem for Mobile telephone preparation High with online services is being upgraded to 4G/LTE rather than 3G. That sounds good, as sometimes the 3G/WiFi of the car is actually slower than just using the cellular modem on my 4G phone itself!

    Also with the engines:
The engine lineup for the new A6 and A6 Avant includes three TFSI units with output ranging between 140 kW (190 hp) and 245 kW (333 hp) and five TDI units ranging from 110 kW (150 hp) to 240 kW (326 hp).... The top gasoline engine, the 3.0 TFSI, has been comprehensively revised.

That's interesting! In the UK we currently only have two petrol engines (2.0TFSI in the hybrid, and 4.0TFSI in the S6) as for some unknown reason Audi dropped the 3.0TFSI for the UK part way into the C7 A6 production run. I don't know why, it's a great engine and is what they use in the B8 S4/S5. But for whatever reason, after selling <80 of them Audi stopped it and the 3.0TFSI powered C7 A6 was no more in the UK. It's still sold elsewhere though, it's the standard engine option in the USA!
But now... it's coming back to the UK!?

Awful grammar, but clearly aimed at an American market. Whilst I can forgive "liters", "has gotten" makes my toes curl. They shouldn't have a problem with "schedule" but they probably do...

Now that the allroad is now described as "masculine" I'd better let my wife keep driving my pre-FL one with its ever so feminine old-school incandescent headlights.

As I said, this is all based on the generic facelift press release and we will need to wait and see what Audi UK announces. I suspect you have highlighted the reason they dropped the 3.0TFSi, they sold less than 80. In Germany they have had 2.0, 2.8 and 3.0 petrol engines plus the 4.0 V8 and the Hybrid so we are very much restricted on our choice, but as many of the cars sold here will be company cars the taxation link to CO2 is all that matters and some companies even have either a Diesel only policy or a CO2 limit. That may change going forward especailly as companies start to get bills for Urea top ups in addition to servicing and fuel.

Have currently got my dealer asking questions about this, as although I much prefer the front headlights of the current model, as they are LED as standard on the new model and Im paying for this as an extra on the current one, its not a great situation. Also my estimated delivery date is not until AFTER they are suggesting the new model can be ordered. i.e. when my car arrives it will be a brand new "old model". Which is also not great.

I am almost certain that Im going to cancel the current order and move this to the new model. May lose a bit of the dealer/audi contribution on the new model, but all things considered probably not as much as I would lose anyway in it being the "old" model on the day it arrives.

Doh! Didn't realise it was the worldwide press release!

Anyway, for existing owners its good if they don't bring back the 3.0TFSi as it helps keep them rare!

Have told him to cancel the order. Sad, as I was looking forward to it very much, and now the wait will be even longer. I know depreciation on an RS6 is going to be a kick in the groin anyway, but theres no need to voluntarily add steel to caps to the boot.

I know exactly how I will feel taking delivery of my "new" car, only for me to pass a facelift model a few weeks later. Id rather not have that experience. If it costs me the loss of my deposit and maybe £6k worth of dealer contribution, to avoid that experience, then so be it. Ill want to be one of the very first orders on for the facelift model though, I'll do it the morning the books open.
