Hello everybody. After 7 years with my Ford Focus I am considering upgrading to an Audi A7 Ultra. I did test drive an A7 Quattro 204 Black Edition earlier this week and really liked the car. I realise there are obvious differences between the two models but both the demonstrator cars at my local Audi dealership were Quattro Black Editions. The model I am looking at would be in SE Executive spec with no upgrades. I would finance this through a 3 year contract hire via my limited company and have been quoted £1,533 initial payment the £511 for 35 months. This includes servicing, maintenance and tyres. The dealership said they would be willing to loan me an Ultra for 2 days once they have a demonstrator available but unfortunately there are none in the UK at this time. What are your thoughts on this? Would it be worth upgrading to S-Line spec perhaps? This car will attract Benefit in Kind tax so I need to keep a handle on the costs. Many thanks.

It's a brilliant car, I love mine. Before buying through a dealer have a look at drive the deal. I got mine through them and the price was incredible compared to the dealer prices.

Sline spec gives you the sporty looking body but don't think you get much else. I do prefer the look of the sline over the SE though.

Sline spec will also give you sports seats, matrix headlights and a larger choice of wheels.

I have an Sline Ultra ordered which I am due to collect from a dealer next week. I placed my order via Carwow and was able to get a much better price than via any dealer direct. I think upgrades are worth considering depending on how long you intend to keep the car and how long you will spend in it each day and what might be of most use to you. If you do a lot of slow town driving through traffic the adaptive cruise would be well worth having!

Many thanks for your replies. Upon further reading of the brochure I am pretty sure I will go for S-Line version. The only upgrade I will bother with is the colour as basic choices are black or white and not keen on either of those.

Anyone else noticed that the Ultra and quattro 218ps engines seem to have different maps, the quattro has 500Nm between 1250 and 3000rpm, the Ultra engine 400Nm between 1250 and 3750 rpm.

I guess this explains why the quattro is 0.5 sec faster to 62mph despite being 70kg heavier (4wd will help too).

Strange isn't it. Now they share the same gearbox, I guess that is the maximum torque you can stick through the front wheels.
