hi all, my son is after some aftermarket alloys for his mk5 golf 2006 1.9 tdi

i beleive the pdc required is 5/112 the wheels he has seen are 5/100 he has been told he needs wobble bolts

my questions are, are they safe ? and exactly what thread size would be required ?

    many thanks

Stick with 5x112, 5x100 was the old style stud pattern.

Anything with "wobble" puts me right off and could "wobble" off?

In this case I would put my foot down. His safety and well being is of paramount importance and he must be made to reialise this.

17 years old, I was making brisk progress in my old man's car with the aim of getting a young lady back to my home for some "romance". I now know that the rapidly worsening knocking noise was caused by the very, very slightly loose wheel nuts unwinding. Long story short - the wheel ended up in ditch, the car on it's bottom ball joint, she walked home and there was no happy ending, if you get my drift.

20 years later, driving in a foreign land late one night, I rounded corner to find a colleague with his car atop a railway embankment having just avoided the express train. They never found the wheel which must have gone at least 50 yards into the woods but at least he got a chorus of, "You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel" the next day. Same story -loose wheel nuts but in his case it was after swapping from winter tyres.

I'd rather fit a car with furry dice and a 1970s jack up kit than wobble bolts.
