Do you know (or do you want the work) of anyone with one-car transporter to bring back car from Skive (Denmark) to Sudbury, Suffolk?

For a single transporter, or car with one car trailer, I will pay £800 (cash, notes, folding inc. cost of Derv) to bring a car back to UK.

Or I can hire single car transporter closest to where you start from and will pay £250 (+refund against Derv receipts, cash, say no more) to do the same job for driver.

Must collect this week or Monday 27th October at latest to load car and then return.

Cheapest route is via Harwich ---> Hook of Holland then up into Denmark. Or, if you're up that way, via Immingham to Esbjerg

The seller goes back to work in Africa 28th October so wants clearing by then

I've tried the usual agencies and did a booking last Thursday (and paid deposit) but seems driver is only getting there in time if he has a delivery to make en route. Not at all helpful

It's over 800 miles one way, it will cost £250 in fuel one way then another £300 return, ferry for car/van with trailer is about £200-250 so it's not much left for someone to even dream of going that way... Go get a trailer hired yourself and drive there or fly there and drive the car back if it's road worthy !

Total trip Tottenham - Harwich - Hook of Holland - Skive - Hook of Holland - Sudbury - Tottenham = 1300 miles
Return ferry cost is £208 (£602 on HGV ferry return Immingham - Esbjerg but far less miles!)
    1,300 miles at 28mpg = 47 gall = 214 litres @£1.53/litre = £800 paid - (£328 + £250 for driver) gives a profit for someone of £222 !
Which is worth a hotel (nearest town is Skive, Best Western is £67 per night, meal, and some duty free)

Just don't know where you're getting your figures from. Due to my "condition" I can't handle junctions and other road junctions/instructions on the wrong side of the road. Would you believe the only place in UK to be taught LHD is Ulster?

Best rental I've found is (Tottenham) £98 per day for a single car low-loader + £0.09 each mile after 250. Which is why I'm offering
£250 for driver +re-imburse Derv costs and ferry cost if I have to hire

It's not road-worthy hence the post. Someone, even if working might be able to take Fri - Mon off and do it. Or put this to someone they know...
As Arfur Daley would say: "nice little earner"!

From my postcode which is N10 it's 815 miles to Skive according to AA route planner. You'll be very fortunate to do 28 Mpg with a trailer behind you, empty maybe but definitely not loaded ! I drive a c5 allroad tdi with a Ifor Williams trailer and have done many, many trips in Uk and continent and 1600 miles it's a very long trip when you're limited at 60Mph !

You can do abut 500 miles a day before you're completely knackered and it still takes 3 days to complete the journey + you need loads of hot beverages/energy drinks to keep your moral up !

If you think you can do it then by all means go for it, i doubt you will get someone to do it for you ! I know lorry drivers that take cars to eastern europe for £500 each but they do the trip there almost empty anyway so a little extra weight does not impact much of their fuel economy !

And finally, i am not interested in the job, i just tried to give you a few pointers... To waste 3 days, fuel and expenses + the fatigue due to concentrating on a long trip + lack of sleep and proper food i would not do it for twice as much !

Ulster drivers are taught nothing about driving on the left, why would they be? Maybe they brought it in since I lived there.

A neighbour is ex-BSM (now self-employed) and he says he often gets asked, but there's no demand - there's no voluntary course in UK preparing for continental and Eire driving. It's not compulsory in Ulster, but there are courses you can take for the less proficient over there.

Did alright driving a scrap T-Bird up from New York thru NY state to Buffallo. Was going to Niagara Falls with
my then 2nd (stunning but quite mad -- but that's another story!)

Anyways, got to this particularly complex multiway junction with many light and filter controlled signs saying "Ahead only" and "Filter" and had brain freeze. Like which was my right of way? Did I have one? And when? Why was traffic oncoming flashing me as they went past? Why was traffic overtaking me over both my shoulders? Which ever light came on I wanted to turn left, but my brain was giving me an equally compelling reason to not. Eventually, she got out and just did it.

Since that time, I've never relaxed driving on the wrong side of the road, even just a short trip from Hook of Holland to Europort -- sets me on edge/lack of confidence thing. So doing the distance between the Hook and Skive with an unfamiliar vehicle, manual, and loaded return isn't feasable. Which is why I'll pay £250+ to anyone that can.

Have just heard that the seller will be moving the car to a neighbouring town while away to await collection with someone who can do the handover to transporter.

    **NEW!** Now no date restriction!
Any time in the next 30 days is fine. So no need to drive continuous!

PM me if you can and have trailer for over £400 gross in your pocket for the job. Or if your nearer to Immingham (less miles to drive) £250

Many years ago I took a job driving a little sweeper truck. Training lasted as long as it took to show me how to lower and raise the brushes. Bit scary driving through Dublin on the left.

I do wish you luck in getting the job done.

But you calculation are somewhat optimistic. If you take the AA cost of ownership per mile, or even the more realistic 40p per mile the taxman allows, someone would be well out of pocket. Add insurance for what is to all intents and purposes is a commercial job, food, minimum wage, Kwells, etc. and it's only going to be attractive to the sort of stranger I wouldn't trust with my own car.

If the time limit is no longer pressing, why not go back to plan A?

Yes, have advised original transporter quote that. He's acknowledged and no doubt will get back to me in the next 30 days if he gets an outbound leg. Meantime, both offers still open for those not frightened of a bit of fatigue to make some folding...

I don't know where all this minimum wage stuff is coming from, got yelled that in another forum. £80 + per day not up to the minimum wage then? And using those cost calculators is daft. We're living in the real world here. It's like adamss24 saying it's 810 miles to Skive. Yes it is if you drive across the North Sea. No wonder he's knackered (memories of Top Gear converting a Triumph Herald to amphibiously drive across the Dover Straits) Distance is 562 miles via A1

adamss24 - hope this helps: Hook of Holland to Skive, Denmark distance - Google Search
