Nexus 7 dash install?

Hi all

I currently have a b7 and looking to upgrade the single din.
Trawling the net I found a couple of people have installed a nexus 7 in the dash.
I would absolutely love this!

this would be a long term project, as I don't currently have the funds. I would have to gather up all the parts and check it would work before starting.

Parts Required:
Nexus 7 or any 7'' tab rooted -Tasker app
double din cage
strong magnets
acrylic sheet/fibre class to make a cradle
Car charger
usb hub
Bluetooth obd?


my question is can I retain steering wheel controls somehow without having to place a headunit in the glovebox? how would I get sound out of Tab to car if doing away with headunit?
I could splice into speaker cables from the headphone jack but not sure that would work with bose system and thin wires.

also my car has telephone Bluetooth, will this be lost?

any input is appreciated guys.

Having researched more I've seen this. CarPC Joycon
It converts the wheel motion from the steering wheel to usb input for a pc/tab but only works for resistive types.
Maybe a converter from canbus to resistive using an adaptor would work?
