    All modern VAG OBD ports are 16 pin but there are a few different cables/leads though.

    Keeping it as simple as possible;

    HEX-COM is the older cable which won't work with CANBUS equipped vehicles (neither will VCDS Lite). I purchased one of these in early 2005.

    HEX-USB+CAN is the modern version of the above cable which will work with CANBUS equipped vehicles.

    If you have the lead to hand, check the sticker on it, it should tell you everything you need to know - post a photo if you're not sure though.

    Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

    Recently I installed Link:- Beta 14 if memory serve me correct some of the labels for things shown in VCDS for the crafter were better and also it includes a firmware update to the VCDS HEX-CAN cable which may not make difference in use but every little helps!

    Is it a genuine cable brought from ebay seller? if so updated software and firmware will work.

    If non genuine cable brought from ebay seller? very little chance of software/firmware update working as it will detect it is non genuine.

    Ok, update. Thankfully the father in law has a Hex+Can cable... not sure its genuine, but it looks exactly like the one on the Rosstech site, but doesnt say Rosstech on it. Problem is when ive installed vdcs 12.12.3 and tried connecting it to the van it cant find a port regardless of which USB port i put the cable in.

    EDIT - ok, it cant be genuine. As it would have recognised it.
