    Hello
I have a 2004 Audi A6 Avant 1.9TDi. There was a water leak through the pollen cabin air filter box and it flooded the passenger footwell front and rear.

Now I have some problems with the a/c, the power to the a/c compressor is not constant, I attached a bulb to the power line going to the compressor and it is mostly off but then starts to flash for a few seconds then goes off again. I am thinking some water either got to the climatronic head unit or the water that flooded the passenger footwell has damaged something. Any advice how to proceed? At the time of the "flood" the left indicator interior light and noise wasnt working so I presume water got to the indicator relay but that has since corrected itself. One wire in the rear passenger footwell was damaged from the water and I repaired it.
    Many thanks for any advice.

    Regards
    Blo

If I remember correctly you can't check supply voltage/current using a bulb on many systems on these cars due to the way the CANBUS system works.

I'd say dry it thoroughly, and then get a scan done with VCDS and see what surfaces from that. Trying to work out any faults without a scan is likely to lead you up a blind alley very quickly and cost you a packet.

Oh, and clear your plenum drains to stop it happening again

    Lang may yer lum reek!

Thanks for your reply but CAN-bus ecu's started in 2005 and newer vehicles on A6, this is 2004 with C5, so not sure if that applies. Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: CAN-Bus Information I have had it scanned, the fault code was faulty valve in compressor but a/c guy said theres no point changing the compressor if theres no constant power to it and I should get the fault fixed before seeing if its really the compressor thats faulty or not
