MMI 2 red face

Hoping some of you could help me
I have an A6 tdi 2006 model
last week the radio kept clicking off lick the signal had failed, then it wouldnt allow me to play a CD , or use my phone it keeps kicking the phone out for some reason.

A guy a was talking to said it was the Information control unit, has a broken infa red light that is causing this prob !! and the ony solution is to replace the main CD unit in the glove box as thats the control unit ??
has anyone here heard of this or seen this problem and if so how was it sorted out.
Also any idea on the cost of one of these units ..
I would appreciate any help with this as its driving me mad, no phone, CD, and radio clicking out every three secs or so

You need full diagnostics run on the car with VCDS before replacing control modules willynilly. Any good audi or vw specialist will have the equipment.

Does the car have the red screen or colour screen above the centre airvents?
