If you don't need the space, go for an A7. It looks great, great spec, feels great, and you will love it for years to come.

I agree with most of the above comments.
We have just (tuesday) taken delivery of an new A3 Sportback 1.4 CoD for my wife (got a great deal from Doncaster Audi!). Not many extras except the comfort pack with F&R Parking and cruise control System but so far it is a great little car. The engine is incredibly quiet and it is very smooth. When I have been allowed (!) to drive it for any distance I will comment more.

And I have just swopped my 2012 manual A4 Avant SE 163ps (14k miles) for a 3 year old A6 Avant Sline multitronic Special edition 170 bhp with 31k miles. They are VERY different cars. The A6 is much smoother and has space of one or more Golden Retrievers and lots of sails.
I expect the A3 to be much faster around the lanes and very much better on fuel.

I was impressed with the ride, equipment level and quality on the latest A3 SE - it is better than her previous manual A3 2.0 tdi Sport in many ways.

A3 saloon is a nice car

    Pics of our one

Great interior and the Glacier White is very nice - very bright but not too much pearl effect

Few pics as it was getting dark
