Hi anybody has got any idea, my Passat 1999 had a problem if it reach 60 miles and above it shows sudden loss of speed afterwards it is coming very slowly above that speed. Mostly it happened on motorways, as I read the error code it was the turbo booster valve so I have changed that valve. Now I can hear if the turbo booster open the waste gate but if it happened I have always a very big black smoke at the back. As I asked one of the mechanic he checked on running engine with accelerating it is always coming black smoke every time he do but as he remove the pipe from waste gate it wasn't there, so he told me most probably turbo is gone. But what I don't understand if I remove the cable from maf sensor I can drive faster then with that sensor. If I put that sensor back on and if I drive fast the speed like kickups every time if the turbo booster open the valve first slows then picking up with speed and goes down again. My question is it possible because of maf sensor fault the turbo valve open to early before it can build up the boost, because of that I have black smoke at the back because there is to much fuel came in but there is low boost so can't burn properly that fuel. Or waste gate open too early even by small amount of vacuum.

It's a 1.9 tdi manual, I have checked two things, 1. I removed that hose from the waste gate and at that time I don't have black smoke but I didn't drive.
    2. I put that hose back on then removed the sensor cable from maf, I drove without the sensor, I can drive faster then before in city I didn't drive motorway but after 50miles speed is coming very slowly but without smoke before with that sensor cable I can't drive more then 50miles speed without black smoke and always black smoke if I accelerate too fast.

is it possible if waste gate open too early then I have black smoke or that sensor is not working properly.

As always with a VAG car you need a diagnostic scan

Sorry for delay respond, may be I've asked a very complex question. I'm worried a little bit now because previously I checked through the diagnostic scan and found that the turbo boost valve is faulty. Before I changing the valve every time if I'm above 2000rpm the engine is accelerating slowly up( I think people calling this as limp mode which protect the engine before damage). Now after change I can feel every time if I accelerate how the power is going up and down but never goes in limp mode.

I don't know why but what I think MAF sensor is telling the turbo booster valve when to open but if it faulty what is going to happen if it says bit early to open the valve before it can build the boost power. I heard the waste gate is opening to exit the boost power .

I suspect MAF sensor and waste gate are faulty. Do you think if I do a scan is it going to show that they are faulty. Maybe it's going to show the MAF sensor but not waste gate because waste gate is working through vacuum no sensor measuring if it is working or not. Every time if I do reading the code it cost me £30, first time as I checked it showed turbo boost valve only nothing else.

I think I have written too much now if something not so clear please do not hesitate to contact me.

You could have several causes for your problems. You really need the diagnostic scan on your car VCDS lite should work fine. http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VAGUSB.html I don't remember if you need a 2 2+2 adapter but if so I'm sure Gendan will have it. I'll give you a little example about randomly changing parts without a diagnostic check. Say a TDi Golf is hard to start. You bring it to a local mechanic that diagnoses glow plugs but they make no difference. His next step is a new fuel filter and no return valve on the fuel line. No Difference. Mechanic then suggests that timing is off and changes the belt in case it's "stretched" No difference. By this time the mechanic is suggesting the car needs new injectors. What did she need? Well a diagnostic scan shows P1296 coolant temperature sensor costs 20.00 from a dealer. You don't even need tools to replace it and the car starts first time.
