My 2009/2010 2.0L TDIe facelift A6 has started to throw up

    1 Fault found
    5340 - Intake Manifold Flap; bank 1
    P2008 00(172)- Electrical Malfunction
MIL ON - Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

I know that this is just the intake flaps sticking as the motor is working correctly when in the output test mode.

Question is does this have any other effects on the car apart from fuel inefficiency or can it damage some other parts i.e. the dpf ?

I have the car booked in to a garage in a week time as i can not get the time to do it sooner warranty company job.

    hopefully just an intake replacement.

won't affect anything on the car apart from going into limp mode

if it goes into limp mode, just disconnect power connection. I took them off a couple of months ago and cleaned them as with inlet manifold. I would say your egr could be fairly bad as well.

I will let the garage sort it out under the warranty as long as the warranty company is willing to pay for it.

If not then i will do it myself.

This fault is a sticking swirl flap.

Have had a nightmare with the warranty company, they said it would be covered firstly so i agreed to get the car looked at their recommended garage.

Then they said they needed to take the manifold off to look at, this bumped up the costs.

After 4 days of messing me about they now won't cover it and they have made me liable for all the diagnostic work which was what told them in the first place.

Then when i inquired how much it would cost just to finish the job they bumped up the cost extortionately by saying it would cost £850.

The warranty company use a third party company and they bumped up the cost as when checked with the garage the price was £700.

I got a new manifold from TPS for £365 and have wasted £250 on unnecessary checks that were supposed to be covered.

So if you have an AA warranty or one supplied from Motorway direct then rip it up and get your money back as they are an awful company.

I was expecting better things as they had previously honored a rear screen replacement.

will do the manifold this weekend. Rant over.

My car insurance covered my rear glass, although I know some just cover the windscreen, just cost me the excess.

Sorry that you've had such an experience, sounds like the garage and the warranty company working in cahoots to rip you off, personally I'd take it elsewhere.

The MPG was never effected just on start up the engine would race a little and sometimes when switching off the engine would do a thud.

Today the warranty company rang me and offer to pay for some of the diagnostic cost out of good will.

I do feel that i could have most likely claimed compensation from them using a solicitor as they held up the use of my car for 4 days.

And as the cost to me was reduced but not to the level of the full amount i decided to take their offer. Not worth putting up with hassle of doing this realistically.

I still cancelled the policy as they were asking if i would keep it.
