I have a 99 T Reg Passat Sport TDI 110 with a leak at the base of the windscreen washer pump mounted on the washer reservoir; it appears the seal has gone and needs replacing.

At the risk of asking the most ridiculous question, can anyone advise how to undo and remove the pump as I cannot free it and do not want to force it lest I crack/split the washer tank/reservoir as well. Many thanks.

Are you sure it is the pump seal ?

I had a leak down there and it turned out to be a split pipe above, just that the water was running down so it appeared to the the pump.

Anyway, to remove the pump, twist it about 45 degrees whilst pulling it from the bottle. It does take a good tug by the way.
