    Hi Guys,

I know this is probably not the best place in the world to be asking a question about a FORD but i have this old escort which we use as a run around to save getting the Audi mucked up with old boxes etc.

The problem is the rear lights have just stopped working, along with the dashboard lights. What is puzzeling is that the break lights/Indicators/reverse lights all work fine. It wopuld appear that quite simply when i turn the lights on at night the front lights all work but rear night driving lights and dashboard lights do not function. I have checked all the fuses which appear ok, and yes i even checked the bulbs.

Can any one suggest what else i might check to solve what is no doubt a simple problem "I hope"

    Cheers

    Marcus

    Hi,

I've seen this problem on the ford escort many times before, and it has a simple and quick solution.

A match in the fuel tank normally does the trick

Only joking, although the escort i once owned was the worst car ever, being only a 1.3 is was severly underpowered.

I think your problem could be the stalk itself. Probably around a £10 from a local scrappie.

    Thanks Nick,
Probably the match will be the end result!!!, but surly if it was the stalk itself neither front or back lights would work, as i would assume they are both on the same circuit as with the dash lights!!!.
Other simple answer i suppose is dont drive at night!!!

    Cheers

Check the wiring to the rear lights, remove the bulbs and rub the contacts with some wire wool, forget to put the handbrake on when parking uphill.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.
