Hi All, i have a 1.9 tdi and the heating stopped working, soon after that the head gasket went. i got the head reskimmed and it would not hold the pressure so i dropped a new engine in it. i thought that the heating not working was a sign that the gasket was going to blow so when i got the new engine i thought that the problem would be solved.
can anyone help with this problem.
if i turn the cold air on and change to heat the heat will not come on but if i set the heat to say 25degrees and turn of and back on then i get warm air but not hot.
please tell me this aint a big job as i have run out of funds now

If there are faults present it will show you what they are, yes.

Who did the engine swap? Was the system bled?

a garage done the engine swap so yep it was all bled, i was also told to break the engine in for the first few weeks.
the heating was working then wasnt then was etc etc with the old engine but then the gasket went.
its giving me warm air now not hot, eg 27 degrees will give the same heat as 21, 22, 23, etc

Could be the matrix, could be the 'stat, could be a number of other things - get a scan done and post up the results.
