Automatic boot issue Allroad 2006

Hi Folks,
As per title, i did a few searches but not seeing my issue, no matter what button i use (key/Door or boot handle button) my boot makes the noraml whiling noise opens 5 inches and then slams shut, it will do this 6 or 7 times and then open as normal.

Closes no problem at all.

Any ideas, is it a relay or something easily fixable (i bet not)?

Reading your past posts you have a 2006 A6 Allroad with power tailgate, there was a recall on Audi A6 Avant, Audi A6 allroad and Audi Q7 vehicles manufactured within a specific period yours would qualify IMO.

Walk into a main dealer, give them your VIN ask them to run a check. You may have to point the service advisor in the right direction ask him to check ELSA and look for recall code 55E5 title is Software update for tailgate drive.

Technical background

On Audi A6 Avant, Audi A6 allroad and Audi Q7 vehicles manufactured within a specific period it is possible in rare isolated cases that the power-operated tailgate can close again abruptly and unexpectedly after it has been opened using the power function.

Remedy

On the vehicles affected, the software of the tailgate drive must be updated to SW version 0280. The new software incorporates an optimised close function. An increased resistance (slight shaking) will be felt when the tailgate is closed by hand. The automatic close function remains unchanged.
