I can't see a problem with ESP/ ABS as braking is done by calculating the speed of individual wheel.

Never had a problem on a previous cars.

Hi bops6. Finding a set will def not be easy, and like you said "rocking horse poo". Considering I am already running the smallest disc available on the 3.0 (321mm) anything bigger will be an upgrade, especially if I can get a set of 4 or 6 pot calipers from a n other Audi. Just bought a set of SS hoses so a step in the right direction.

Researching part numbers for matching calipers & carriers, any help will be appreciated.

I agree , I have thought this , but previous gen of ABS do require coding Link:- Audi A4 (8D) Brake Electronics (Bosch 5.3 ABS/EDS/ASR/ESP) - Ross-Tech Wiki
Above link is a redirection from the A6 4B/C5 wiki.

And they would have been using same principles as Bosch 8.0 that we have? Just no info on Bosch 8.0 coding, so are we going to say it does not matter?

Gup, when I did the upgrade on my C5 no coding was needed. But an interesting read especially re steering angle.

I haven't seen brake coding on C6 whilst using VCDS.

You'd want to recode brakes if you're using high performance pads.

Joedredd you mean you never did any coding.

312mm front brakes were used on V5/V6 engined due to extra weight. In order to restore balance 255 disc should have been used on the rear.

That is a redirection page from when you click ABS/brakes in the A6 4B / C5 wiki, perhaps you never knew it needed coding? perhaps it make no discernible differences?

Anyway as only info when replacing ABS unit (Bosch 8.0) is to use the code in the old unit for new on the web god know how it is built up ...

Not on my C5, no. Just swapped calipers & carriers, fitted new discs/ pads.

Ok spent the last few minutes checking part nos. Now unfortunately I cannot find my code on sticker (faded) so will contact Audi tomorrow to confirm.

    Code PR1LT 314mm x 25mm disc, caliper 4B0615123, carrier 4B0615125C

    PR1LG/ LD 321mm x 30mm, 4B0615123, 4F0615125
    PR1ZL/ LH 347mm x 30mm, 8E0615123, 1K0615125B
