Evening everyone, owned my 2010 A4 for almost 18 months now, I'm 25 but oddly enough it is my first proper car, well first since I've passed my test anyway!
I like to make the car my own so;
Uprated my standard S Line alloys to Matte Gunmetal grey RS6 19"s! My favourite mod so far.
currently awaiting delivery of a H&R Fully adjustable coilover kit, and next on the list is the remap and a full replacement of the exhaust system, starting with the removal of that soot collecting DPF box and then finishing with a dual exit, turbo back stainless steel system! Can't wait!

See I've heard different things from different people regarding DPF removal. Some tuning garages, renowned ones at that, offering the DPF removal service?
I wonder whether its the whole 'it'll fail an MOT unless you know a guy'

I know a visual inspection is carried out but surely unless it's a train wreck under there they aren't going to know it's actually been removed, a mate of mine had an A4 avant, same engine as mine and he's recently had an MOT and passed, emissions test and all, he hasn't had a DPF for some time now!

It's good reading, and it's nothing I haven't seen before, and believe me I'm not saying you're wrong...
But having an MOT and passing it last month with his DPF removed? Doesn't look like the measures are being enforced....

Plus if you do get the DPF removed, and the existing housing replaced (minus the filter of course) as long as the welding has been done on the face bolted to the bottom of the car.
How would they know?
Plus the removal hardly affects the emission tests according to mechanic friends of mine! And it will still pass on that section so?

I thank you for your advice though, it'll be something to consider.

It's different in Ireland and Northern Ireland. MOT's and NCT's are carried out in government test centres not garages. Little chance of a blind eye in those places

Ahhh I didn't realise you were across the water.
Yeah I'm guessing its a little more difficult to get away with then!
