The chrome on my A6 trim above the door just at the window edges has gone " milky" Audi say it is a detergent problem and nothing to do with manufacture! Anyway they want £575 to replace the 4 Chrome strips!!!!
Has anyone had this problem and how did they rectify it without selling a child to pay Audi.
    Cheers

Every Audi I have had has done this eventually. Nothing seems to get them clean. I've tried metal polish etc but no joy at all. Some say a light machine polish does work sometimes. I just live with the fact that it will eventually happen. Simon

Am going down the carbon route as soon as funds/time allow, have a local place that will supply and do for £200, £150 if I supply the wrap.

Peeps on here have had several changes in warranty and they've all gone milky.

It's a spray on product, looks just like paint when spraying on but it's actually a rubberised coating. If you don't like it once it's finished you can just peel it back off. Available in various different colours.

I'm on my 3rd A6 (C6) and the chrome trim always deteriorates badly.

Prior to the A6's I owned several Rover 75's which had lots of genuine chrome which always looked like new.
