    Hi all

Seeing as my "old girl" is 8 years old, I was wondering what I should start replacing before it goes wrong.

I am already thinking of battery (meter reads 100%) and Xenon bulbs but unsure of what else, any ideas? and timing chain will be bottom of the list.

I am now in possession of VCDS and 5570 disks, so that will be one job for the weekend.

    Cheers
    George

If you have had regular services / oil changes then I wouldn't replace anything until it went wrong. If the timing chain goes it's goosed anyway, but regular oil changes should hold this off. IMO

Yes the vehicle is serviced annually. I was assuming that the battery/ bulb didn't have an infinite life, hence reason for changing.

Xenon bulbs degrade over time, do a search and you'll see various posts.

Put some money into a pot every month and keep it for big repairs should they happen as we all know the early cars are scrap

As long as all fluids/filters have been done in the last 20k miles (apart from oil) I'd not worry

80k for tiptronic 100k for manual

if your battery's the original I'd make sure it's changed, if it's been changed get it checked before the winter.

Also with the battery, MMI display is not the actual "health" of the battery
There is a Battery State read-out when plugged in via VCDS on the battery module that gives you a more precise read-out of your battery health/state. If I remember correctly, anything less than 40% means a change

Also I guess you could check glow-plugs if Diesel just to ensure all 4/6 are firing especially in the winter

Rest is just general wear really - brakes/tyres/oils/lubing up door/boot shuts

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

Just stick with the recommended service schedule.

Do a search for 5570, get them from Audi. You might already be on 5570.
