    Thanks

The only problem I have with selling private is that the service history is none existent, it needs a cambelt and water pump, plus the shocks are squeaky. It would be ok if I got them sorted but i must be looking at best part of £600 there and then service history will let me down.

can you not trace some of the history? vw customer service will tell you what they have on record and send you in writing free! i've just trace mine for a gttdi project i'm doing up, most people use the dealers for services for the first 3 - 4 years so it will be on record. a 60000 mile service[big one] will cost anything from £400 onwards try and find a decent independant garage and it will save you loads and shop about for your parts you can get all the parts you need on ebay for half the dealers price [when they're listed]

Thats interesting I might just try that.

I can get parts cheap as my mate used to work for the dealers, he got me a price of £178 for a water pump, cambelt and maf, he wants 350 for parts and fitting.

To be honest though, I have already been ripped off on a service and i've totally fell out of love with her. Its one thing after the next with it and I don't want it to be a money pit.

The what car site sed £3175. I only give 3995 for it last december, i'd be happy to cut my losses at that... but I imagine someone will try at £2500 or there wouldn't be much profit in it.

    Thanks

£350 for parts and fitting well worth it mate once you have had the big service done [with decent oil] you'll find your car running mint again there are shockers on ebay canny cheep at the minute, but if your just going to part ex it sell it the way it is[ but the garage will stick nearly a grand on there price once they have it ] , but you've only had it under a year and once you sort these probs out your car will be better than when you bought it, you must like golfs or you wouldn't of bought it. give it a good polish and have a drive past the local tesco's windows[for the reflection]you soon be in love with it again
