Not a Golf head here but from what I remember (it was last year!) the two platforms Golf MkV and Passat B6 are similar in many but not all respects. I don't know all of the components or coding you'd need for Golf MkVI

If your pax mirror folds but driver's doesn't do you have independent mirrors' operation switched on or off in your MFD? Most awkwardly I found that it had to be switched off for both folding otherwise only one would fold when the drivers' fold switch was operated. This means that when you try and reset your mirrors' reflective angles both move instead of how you really want: adjustment selected by the switch each independently.

Have you changed the switch too?

Thanks for the reply. I will check the individual settings I am sure at present they are set to synchronised. Yes I did replace the switch. There is also a delay of about 20 seconds after you turn the switch back out before the passenger mirror folds back out (it folds in immediately)?

The mirrors were set together but unfortunately changing them to individual makes no difference

If both the mirrors work on pax side then there's something wrong in the wiring or controller/motor in the drivers' side.
Do you have auto dimming internal rear view mirror?
What is your original and then changed coding for the drivers' side controller?
Post your Autoscan so we can see if there's is fault being reported by controller?

There may be more informed people in the Golf MkVI forum as here's Passat B6 2005-2010.
I see that Crasher is helping you out there so don't want to cross what information he's offering... But regarding wiring, on the B6 all the wiring was there because I had the auto-dim rear view mirror. This is needed. If you don't have one of those you may be missing some wires. Again, can't say how the MkVI is wired up.

I took my control modules/motor units and mirrors from a B6 scrappy AFAICR '08MY. Where did you get your parts from?

BTW, the part about adding an IC in my help .doc was for B5/B5.5
