can you damage the g85 steering angle sensor on a4 b8 after fitting new rack

advice needed please i have a 2010 s-line avant o/s suspension damaged.....replaced front subframe and o/s suspension,also removed steering rack to replace inner tie rod & outer track rod end,howver once all back together i have esp light on dash along with steering column & steering angle issues.
I stupidly forgot to lock the car whilst the steering rack was disconected from the column and my young son decided to have a "play" in the car whilst in this state so i do not know if the steering wheel has been turned multiple times and knackered the steering angle sensor


I have the front wheels pointing straight and steering wheel is central so looks correct,however unsure if the scan i have done relates to steering g85 damaged or just miles out on the degrees.....how can you check on vcds if the angle sensor g85 is working or knackered ? All i can find on ross tech is the procedure to recalibrate but i got errors when playing on the vcds,looks like i need to find out if the steering angle sender actually works also find out how to see what degrees the steering is registering as i am hoping it is a simple job like rotating the steering wheel by un-doing the steering rack again and not sommat costly now knackered I have not touched the steering wheel inside the car but have had it off at the rack so had "free play" on the wheel......even more if my lad thought it was like being on a ride at the funfair lol,any suggestions much apreciated please and any info regarding the b8 platform steering angle sensor as to if it can get damaged like earlier cars with clock spring thanks daz.

ok guys can any of you help with these group 030 - 033 reading through 16 steering control as i cannot get the vcds to do calibration....i notice on 032 i have 800+ degrees on both readings,also in group 033 i have 0.0 for steering angle sensor hardware/software can anybody please advise to what my problem might be as it must be associated with me removing the pas rack from underneath NOTE: i have not had the steering wheel off or messed with airbag squib,however the free play in the steering wheel might also have caused this problem.........any suggestions please

Did you get your problem sorted?
Looks as a minimum like the basic settings for module 16-steering wheel are needed, this is done under [basic settings - 04] group 001, when complete field 3 (third from left) should say OK.
If you need more guidance let me know.

if you disturb the column when you fit the rack you damage the slip ring its a common fitters error
