I'm looking at purchasing a used A6 Avant or Allroad. The family need the boot space which is one of the reasons I'm looking at A6. However, I notice that the price is quite expensive when including quattro. Is quattro really worth the extra money ? I know it's standard on the Allroad but that's looking outwith my budget so reviewing the A6 Avant which is within budget, but the quattro model is making it more expensive. Is it worth stretching ? Hope you understand the dilemma and able to offer some help/advice ?

quattro means you will keep going in snow or fields, where everyone else stops. do you get a lot of snow in scotland ? do you get fed up with not being able to use your car safely, skidding about all over the place. if no, get a 2wd. if yes, get the quattro. more expensive because they are more desirable.

What is your budget ? I have a very, very tidy allroad v6 tdi quattro that i might put for sale soon following the purchase of a newer allroad... As mentioned above, it's the best car i had in years and i already find flaws with the new one ! Quattro is a must, not only for snow but every other bad weather conditions (rain and muddy roads) which makes for a very sure footed ride. Also, there is major difference between the rear suspension on quattro and FWD so they do not handle the same !
