I need some advice
After spending countless amateurish hours on an oil consumption ad min leak problem I think I a getting somewhere.
Essentially a major oil consumption problem was being made worse by a engine running too rich due to a failing engine speed sensor.
That has been changed. There is a massive reduction in smoke.

I have seen the thin braided hose that I think comes from the PCV system and attaches to ?turbo bypass pipe?. It has become frayed at the edges and slipped off the inlet. There are a fw drops of black oil from it when parked.
Is it necessary for it to be attached?
Can I trim it and reattach?
Is the oil drip normal?
Would it be good to leave open to air as an exit point of dirty oil?( I was considering catch can or pcv deletion but haven't worked up the courage yet)

Thoughts appreciated
