Hi i'm new to this forum and have been trying to look through but thought it might be easier to post a thread. My Daughter just got herself a (new) 2007 Passat lastweek there was a few things needed sorted so my brother got a mechanic that works for him to go over it and make a list of things that would need sorted which ended up being more than we thought, a new flywheel, clutch, Timing belt tyres, pads all round etc etc but the air bag light was on and the parking brake fault was coming up' so they put it onto their Snap on computer thing and there is a fault code that couldn't be reset ( 01588 Igniter for head - airbag drivers side ( N251) upper limit reached ) so was wondering if anyone could point us in the right direction as he said that it would maybe need a vag com software to tell the exact problem as there is several different airbags fitted?
Also the parking brake fault is coming up on the car but the computer wont pick up on anything even after a couple of scans.
So any help would be brilliant as she (we) just couldn't afford to take it to a main dealer at the minute.
    Thanks in advance David

For parking brake fault light coming up on dashboard: are both NSR and OSR motors operating? Llisten for each as you operate the EPB button. If so, then the fault maybe the EPB switch itself -- there is an upgraded replacement available at dealer spares

For the airbag light, it might just need re-setting. Get a VCDS Autoscan and post here? Locator at:

Depends what details your nearest user has stored. But a PM would at least get there. If you look on the user's Username in here (handle) they may also have an e-mail address listed/option to send an e-mail

The Autoscan would give more details about your listed faults, and subject to controller when that fault last occured. Best to delete all faults then scan again in a week or so to see what's returned. If you don't have dates stored that's the best way to see what faults are current as against what's historic

    Good luck!

It may be on e-Bait but dunno what quality. Part number 3C0 927 225 C REH for £28.08 inc VAT.
It's easy to change by removing driver side fuse panel then pushing the switch out from back,
first freeing up the plastic locator tabs.

The airbag fault is probably the connector under the seat. Common fault on these. Cut out connector and join wires with solder or glue/crimp connectors. reset airbag light. Job done.
The epb fault is often a sign that one or more motors is getting lazy/seized. Replace the switch first as it's the cheapest option.
