Ok so I have the fabulous A4 3.0 , just purchased 4 months ago. Started making that famous "ticking" noise, rear top of the engine on passenger side. Noticed a little loss in power and gas mileage went to crap. I'm almost positive its the lifter or cam followers. Id like to get my car running right again soon. The question is, any one done this before and whats the best way to go, full rebuild or just replace the "naughty" follower? Or, picking up a salvage head and throwing that in might save some money....

Here is another look at my beauty, shame she has to sit in the driveway. Any helpful advice to a really mechanically inclined female would be appreciated. I'm new to the Audi World, so far I'm hooked!

So here is the issue, lifters are moving up and down they actually seam fine, except one which is dimpled in, you'll notice the cam lob worn at the edges on lobe #3 and sheerd off some metal around the edges. Its pretty obvious I need a new cam. Question, rebuild whole head, cams, lifters, valves, seals/ or replace cam and lifter drain oil and flush with trans fluid, replace oil and oil filter and drive? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, my timming belt has gotten oil on it and there is lint coming off of it, replace this too?
