    Hi,

I want to change my front and rear number plates. Just wondering what the suitable fixings are?

Currently the front plate is stuck on with sticky pads so I do not want to disturb it.
The rear number plates have some M8/M10 cross head screws which go into a purpose made threaded hole. The hole and fitting is however quite rusty.

Get plate holders, mine came with North East Audi but I changed them recently for genuine Audi ones.

Front is held on with 2 screws, back is the same as yours and the plate just slides into the holder and then they're secure.

You want to change front and rear, but then you don't want to disturb the sticky pads on the front

I got the rear plate fixing kit from Audi for less than £3, I'd suggest you treat any rust with some treatment before changing, I tried a couple of so called strong double sided tape that failed before a quick googled and found one that worked

For the front I screwed one of these to the front bumper with the plate inside and fits perfectly.

    Thanks guys.

My Mrs bought me a private plate for my 30th and I haven't done the paperwork yet. Once that done and I have the new plate I'll just take the old front one off.

Surely you'll have to take the rear one off too as driving around with different plate on the front to the back would be slightly illegal?

Like the man said, use plate holders, much less fuss.
