Seems to be quite noticeable at speeds over 70mph although there is a slight vibration more often than not all the time but quite faint. Ive just read a similar post by a French guy who states his problem turned out to be faulty Drive Shafts? ?I know my 99 needs rear axle bushions, surely unrelated? Is there bushions in around the front steering arms and/or track rod ends?? I doubt it's a serious issue but i'd like to get it sorted as soon as.

cheers for any advice in advance!

    Have you checked the following:

    1. Wheel balance all round - maybe you've thrown a wheel weight
    2. Check at the same time that you haven't bent a wheel - I had endless problems when i bought my passat. It had replica RS4 18" wheels and they were all bent and out of shape.
    3. Check you track rod ends - grab each wheel at 3&9 o'clock positions and see if you can waggle the wheel (in the same direction/manner as the steering would turn). I had a buggered track rod end on one side and it gave me intermittent vibration at different times/speeds as the ball joint was knackered.
    4. Have a look at the top and bottom arm bushes for excessive movement. (you may need to take it to a garage or mot tester for this one)

As for drive shafts I'm not sure.... had both mine replaced recently and I thought the had in the past caused some wobbling but that may have been from any of the above mentioned things. Would certainly check those first before diving into expensive shaft replacement.

Stuck a set of 18" RS8s on here yesterday and to be honest the previous vibration is next to non existant. Will still get everything checked. Nice wee remap done yesterday too, increase of 50lb per foot of torque and easy 35+bhp increase. 90bhp standard, feels at least 120bhp now. Lovin it
