    Hi all,

ive had my A3 over a year now and since then (when I bought it at auction) I've had trouble with the battery going flat once the ignition has been off for a couple of hours.

The engine management screen has never worked however all the speedos and fuel gage have. A recent diagnostics at Audi suggested something in the dash instrument cluster was remaining on and draining the car's battery when it was turned off. Audi quoted me £700 for a new cluster inc. labour.

I've shopped around and was quoted £140 for repair on the existing (with 2 year guarantee) cluster so I'm just wondering if anyone's had the same problems or if anyone has had any experience with refurbished parts ?

Plan to keep the car for a couple of years so just debating whether to try and save a few quid of take the expensive route and fork out the £700 !!

Any advise will be much appreciated.

    Cheers Ben

I haven't had the same issue as yourself, but I had a problem with the electromechanical steering warning light constantly glowing with varying intensity even with the ignition off. I sent it off to UK Cluster Repairs who had it a little while for testing. They cleaned up some damage to the circuitry caused by condensation and it's been OK for many months now. It only cost ~£75 which included carriage both ways. They have very positive reviews on the internet, even permanently fixing issues that other cluster repair companies haven't been able to. You might like to try them for a quote if it helps you decide.

    Welcome to VWAF

Search the internets for BBA Reman, they have a good name when it comes to cluster repairs.
