After 3 years of an A4 s-line I'm currently in the market for an S5 sportback (need the extra doors and rear legroom for the kids) Sportier styling and the V6 engine/performance being the motivation.

Has anyone any tips on what to look out for. There is one at local Dealership, 2012 with very few extras on it, but it looks good in grey with the silver/black interior trim. Would have liked B&O/satnav upgrade and front parking sensors but buying used, have to make some compromises.

Price seems a bit steeper than national averages at almost £37k, but sure that there will be room for negotiation and it's the bottom line cost to change for me that matters, hoping to get it back to nearer £34-35. Half considered a new deal through carwow with Audi/dealer PCP providing around £4k discount/deposit contribution getting to £38k headline price, but I'd rather just finance it personally and own the car rather than tie into PCP, although if it was really only a few k more for a new car vs 2-year old, it's maybe worth the PCP deal?? Suspect a new price will rise once into negotiations?

Anyone have any advice on realistic value of 2012 S5 sportback or PCP vs private financing???

    Thanks in advance...

Hi spire, I'm James, CEO of carwow, we're proud to be a sponsor of VWAudiForum

Interesting to hear your worry that the price of a new car via carwow might rise when you actually speak to the dealer. This happens very very rarely on carwow, if we get wind of a dealer doing this we remove them from our site.

We get a lot of buyers who tell us that they were originally looking for a used car, then end up buying a new car when they see what discounts are offered through us.

I believe on the S5 Sportback the current deposit contribution is £2k, so the price will be higher for a cash purchase.

I'd be keen to hear your experience if or when you get in touch with one of the Audi dealers on carwow, hopefully the discounts will mean you can go for all the options you want too!

Carwow was one of the sites I used when I looked for my car this year and I would happily use them again. In the end my local dealer gave me a very good price but I had been dealing with York Audi through Carwow and they were quoting for the exact spec vehicle I wanted - great prices and service. I was in a similar position to yourself and thought that a year old car would be my best bet but ended up getting a new one as the numbers were so good. I would seriously urge you to price up a new car - you know how it has been driven & serviced, you get the spec you want and it's got 3 years warranty. Good luck.
