my brother has got 03 plate 130 highline...his cv joint is on its way out..ticking on lock both directions...would this cause the abs light & traction light to come on on the dash...and if so when cv is replaced would they go of if they are related...or would we need vag-com to turn them of...

I had this problem and after a lot of testing it turned out to be both brake lamps were faulty. The abs & traction light does not come on if only one the bulbs is faulty.

Change the cv joints then!, when the alarms are still on afterwards the switch is to the left of the clutch pedal. Warning there is a method of fitting, if you do it wrong you stuff the switch, look it up first!

just to inform you out there...brother had cv boots not joints replaced also the steering angle sensor thing behind steering wheel....all the lights on dash now off all good traction can now be turned on & of....apparently it wasnt the brake switch and the reason why the traction light was on & traction active was because of the steering angle sensor had gone car was getting told it was leaning over which caused traction to stay on to componsate for the roll of the car...same with the abs...thanks anyway...
