    Hi,

Ive gazed at my car long and hard and cannot get over the fact that it's too high. It's a September 2013 2.0 litre S line saloon with the standard 20 mm drop. I feel a need to drop it to the optional 30 mm.
does anyone have the details or part numbers of the front and rear springs please..

Don't do it while in warranty.

Fwiw you'll not see a difference in 10mm drop.

Yes Chris the drop is subtle but pleasing .. I've checked mine against others. 10 mm can really make a difference in the right circumstances ( as we all know)
i was planning on using the OEM springs making the change fairly invisible.

Unless your known to your friends as the bear just don't do it. You may be able to convince yourself it looks cool, but everyone - and I mean everyone - else will think your a complete pratt.

All entitled to our opinion, but all 30mm drop s lines ( and S6's) from the factory are made for pratts? Not quite ready for my pipe and slippers yet and my A4 B8 S line and my TT coupe S line were both 30mm from the factory.

They should add a cocoa maker to widen their appeal.

I'm guessing rickerby thought you were talking about an ADDITIONAL 30mm drop, not the ex-works lowest setup!

    This is an interesting topic...

I've just had a look through the two brochures I've got here. Both are for the C7 A6, but one is the earlier version, and one is the later version where DAB is now standard and the Black Edition has been invented.

The first brochure is "Edition 1.0 01/11 - 2011 model year, Valid from January 2011". (But we know that deliveries didn't start until later in the year).
On the early pages where it lists the S line model equipment (In addition to SE model equipment), it says "Sports suspension lowered by 10mm."
Then in the options lists there are:

    • 1BE Sports suspension, lowered by 10mm with more firmly tuned springs and dampers for more direct contact with the road. Standard on S-Line, or £410.00 for an SE.
    • 1BV S line Sports suspension with more dynamic suspension tuning and vehicle lowered by 10mm (over standard suspension). Not available on SE, available as a No charge option on S-Line.

So the 1BV S line is the same height as 1BE Sports, just that it's a bit stiffer.

The second brochure is "Edition 3.1 11/13 - 2014 model year, Valid from November 2013".
On the early pages where it lists the S line model equipment (In addition to SE model equipment), it says "Sports suspension lowered by 20mm."
Then in the options lists there are:

    • 1BE Sports suspension. Lowered by 20mm with more firmly tuned springs and dampers for more direct contact with the road. Standard on S-Line & Black Edition, or £410.00 for an SE.
    • 1BV S line Sports suspension. With more dynamic suspension tuning and vehicle lowered by a further 10mm (over standard Sports suspension). Not available on SE, available as a No charge option on S-Line & Black Edition.

So the 1BE Sports is 10mm lower than it used to be, and now 1BV S line is an extra 10mm lower than 1BE Sports.

I haven't seen any parts lists, but I would guess that the differences between Sports and S Line Sports is both in the Springs and the Dampers (because if you just use shorter/stiffer springs on the same Dampers it will harm the ride quality).

I'm intrigued that they changed it to make it 1BE Sports 10mm lower on the later C7s than the earlier C7s, and also change 1BV S line on the later C7s to be a height difference as-well as stiffness difference than 1BE Sports.
As-well as the OP's question about going from 1BE Sports to 1BV S line Sports, I wonder if someone with an early C7 that's got 1BE Sports 10mm can change to the 20mm version of 1BE Sports that a later C7 has… or go all the way to the 30mm 1BV S line from a later C7.
